Flatwater Festival. August 8, 2008. Chico Paddleheads is a non-profit group founded over 20 years ago as a way for paddling enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and interests to get together for fun on the water. Flat water kayaking and canoeing are some of the fastest-growing hobbies in America. The Chico Paddleheads is sponsoring the Flatwater Festival as a way to introduce families, kids, adults and seniors to this fun, green, and affordable sport. The Flatwater Festival will feature:
FREE Flatwater Races (any type of paddled boat)Slalom - Push a ball through a course using just the nose of your boat.
FREE Down River - Paddle down the Sacramento with your friends and family.
FREE Boat and Fly-fishing Demos North Rim Adventure Sports will be providing a variety of kayaks to try out right on the water! Fish First! Chico will be teaching the best techniques for local fly-fishing as well as have a display of flies and fishing equipment. Check out their McKenzie fly-fishing boats! Local professional guides will be at the event!
FREE Boater SafetyProfessional kayak instructors will give talks and demonstration of essential boater safety techniques VendorsLocal vendors will provide paddling information and products.
